Route and road conditions

Rohini Road is usually the quickest way up to Kurseong, then Hill Cart Road (NH110) runs on through Sonada and Ghoom to Darjeeling.

Pankhabari Road is a steeper, quieter alternative. The Mirik route is longer but scenic, with a lake stop.

Darjeeling town has heavy traffic in peak season (April–June and October). Allow extra time for hotel drop-offs on the Mall side.

Good stops on the way

About 65–75 km depending on the route, which normally takes 3 to 3.5 hours by car.

Which is better: Rohini Road or Hill Cart Road?

Rohini Road is usually quicker to Kurseong. Your driver will choose the best road on the day based on traffic and road conditions.
